AVT Simulation Hosts Local High School Physics Class Field Trip
ORLANDO, FL February 24, 2012
AVT Simulation hosted a group of 11th grade Physics students to teach them about the Simulation and Engineering industry. The students were guided through several learning stations to gain a better understanding of how simulators are created from start to finish. Students were able to operate an Apache Helicopter Recurring Skills Trainer (RST), a Predator UAB, an F-18 Refueling Simulator, and Serious Gaming Technology powered by commercial game engines. "It was shocking to see how real everything felt with every movement you made," said student Kevin Matsusaka. "The perplexity of the graphics was perfect enough to handle, but not too much to be overwhelming," said student David Dang.
The class was also able to see a to-scale replica of a U.S. Marine Corps Assault Amphibious Vehicle (AAV): the Combat Vehicle Training System (CVTS) AVT is currently working on. "Being able to go into the real life models and see how [compact] they are was cool," said student Raquel Perez-Pellot. "It's entertaining to learn how things are made [through] such a long process and it's a lot of fun to test things."
AVT is involved in the community by regularly hosting local field trips and, occasionally, student internships. "AVT believes it is important to expose our high school and college students to technology being developed in Orlando to perhaps encourage them to pursue a career in the Sciences," said Robert Abascal, AVT President & CEO.
