Description:
- Software Engineer will perform tasks requiring knowledge of software processes and procedures required to design, develop, test, and document software for simulation applications, specifically the DVTE Combined Arms Network (CAN) Software and DVTE Infantry Tool Kit (ITK) applications. This role requires the ability to analyze and evaluate requirements, design and then develop the software. This position requires coordination of the both internal and subcontract teams in the design, development, implementation, and testing efforts. Candidate should have technical capabilities in all aspects of computer software and systems and detailed knowledge of software techniques and software configuration management systems used in the simulation industry. This position requires professional technical systems and project completion skills to design, develop, and implement software systems to meet the customer requirements. The position reports to a software lead and senior manager.
Responsibilities:
- Possesses and applies a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures of software development to the completion of assignments.
- Complete assigned projects within estimated cost, schedule commitments, and verify they meet or exceed the contractual reliability and performance requirements.
- Works on the overall design and development of existing and new software ideas and products as well as software applications.
- Responsible for establishing, conducting, and documenting software testing.
- Supports development and executing of project plans as directed by the Program Manager or software lead engineer.
- Maintains a detailed schedule related to assigned task status and completion dates.
- Develops new software engineering methods or processes, and re-evaluates existing processes.
- Implementation and application of sound configuration management processes per company processes and procedures.
- Understands and adheres to cost targets established during the program design phase.
- Provides documentation of work and results.
- Review project tasks against the schedule and provides status reports to the Program Manager or software lead engineer.
- Supplement existing engineering staff in development, integration & test of simulation software and systems.
- Work as part of a software development team.
- Implementation and application of sound configuration management processes and per company policies and procedures.
- Able to travel to customer locations to support contractual commitments including source data collection, reviews, deliveries, installation, and test.
- Support proposal efforts to include estimating level of effort for the design, development, and testing of software.
- Design software test criteria and verify functionality and performance.
- Support presentations on technical design and development.
- Support the development of requirement, design, and operation and maintenance documentation.
- Utilize the TRAC issue tracking system for software development.
Requirements:
- Required 3-10 years C, C++ Modeling and Simulation software development experience
- Familiarity/Experience with the following: OpenFlight, SEDRIS, OneSAF, TerraPage, Microsoft Visual Studio C++ , OpenSceneGraph (OSG), DIS, SVN, TRAC, OpenGL, Linux, IG to Host Integration
- Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
Education:
- BS in Computer Science, Software, Engineering, or equivalent minimum
Desirable Experience:
- Familiarity with 3D graphics run-times and APIs, Knowledge of the Close Combat Tactical Trainer (CCTT)
- Experience in OSG application development, Delta 3D
- Game software development experience
- DVTE program software development experience to include the components of the CAN and ITK
- JSAF software experience
- C4I systems Experience
- VBS2 development experience
